Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi there, I woke up in the middle of the night with a rough, bumpy tongue. It feels burnt, itchy. I had these symptoms about 3 weeks ago, lasting about a week. Both occurred while staying in an apartment with a cat, so I wonder if it could be a reaction to the cat. I saw a doctor and he said that it was "herpes angelica" - a virus. But he said that it wouldn't be reoccurring. Now I am nervous because the same symptoms have come up again. Did he misdiagnose? What else could it be and what should I do?
Well, it looks like some Allergic reaction and as the symptoms are recurring, it is most probably be due to allergies and not viral infection..
I would suggest you to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and an oral swab culture and blood test will help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..
As of now you can take anti allergic medication like Levocetrizine and gargle with Lignocaine mouthwash.. Do cool water rinses for reducing inflammation.. Benadryl solution gargles can also help..
Hope this information helps..
Regards..
