Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I currently have a problem with my lips. They are rough and dry feeling on the inside. I see no patches or sores. The outside is numb feeling. When I drink out of a glass I dribble some. I have no appetite for meals. I am also having cramps in my upper stomach. I have been feeling these symptoms for 6 or 7 days.
Understanding your concern. Roughness and numbness on the lips seems to be due to licking, biting and sucking of lips leading to chapped lips and nutritional deficiency sometimes become additional factor. It could be allergic reaction, trauma to lip, nerve injury and extreme temperature as well.
Need not to worry. I would suggest you to
- Stop licking your lips and drink lots of water. - Use mild steroid cream and maintain personal hygiene. - Take anti allergics like benadryl if it is due to some allergy. - Do cool compresses over the lip - For nutritional deficiency add lots of green vegetables and fruits to your diet.
I would suggest you to visit dentist for thorough examination and start treatment accordingly. If a dentist could not find any oral region for your cause consult neurologist for this.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
