What Causes Running Nose And Watery Eyes In An Infant?

My daughter is 7 months old , suffered from cough n cold on Friday. She was prescribed Maxtra P drops 10 drops tds for 3 daysbut there was no relief , she developed fever yesterday night which subsided after a dose of calpol .she had running nose with watery eyes since yesterday morning along with cough . Not eating anything since past 2 days and her frequency of urine has also reduced. Met her pediatrician yesterday , she was nebulised at 9 Pm with 1ml NS + 1/2 respule Daolin. Syp. Levolin and mucolite drops are prescribed . Child is restless , not able to sleep , developed fever again at 3 am ( 100 deg F). Kindly advise .

Understanding your concern. As per your query your daughter have symptoms of running nose and watery eyes which seems to be due to mainly upper respiratory tract infection. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to consult pediatrician once. Doctor may order certain test like nose or throat culture and test , blood test and chest X-ray to confirm the diagnosis and rule out other condition like viral infection. Get pulmonary function tests done as well to check extent of infection and start treatment accordingly. Doctor may prescribe antibiotics , anti inflammatory and decongestants. You should take cough expectorants as well. Use mist humidifiers in room. Do warm saline gargles.
