What Causes Salty Taste In Mouth While On Zantac?

I have been taking 150mg of Zantac once a day for GERD. After taking Zantac for eleven days, I now have a salty taste in my mouth and saliva. I also occasionally have a burning feeling in my throat, the roof of my mouth feels like it has ripples in the tissue, and in the AM my voice is hoarse. Any idea why I am having the salty taste in my mouth. I also take one 500 mcg quick dissolve tablet under my tongue daily.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...

As per your complain and presentation of symptoms the symptoms that you have explained are experienced in Acid reflux disease itself and you need to get evaluated by a Gastroenterologist and get an Endoscopy done so that the exact cause of the symptoms is ruled out..
If it is due to acid reflux then alteration in dose of Zantac and intake of Proton pump inhibitor like Pantoprazole and antacid like Diagene can be advised..

As you did not describe which sublingual Medication you are taking and for which problem so commenting on it is not appropriate..

Most commonly Nitroglycerin sublingual is taken but it does not commonly cause the above symptoms..

So consulting a Gastroenterologist is must..

Hope this information helps..
