Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My husband has had a foul bitter, salty taste in his mouth for about two weeks now. He has been rinsing with warm salt water or mouthwash. No matter what he eats or drinks he can't get rid of the taste. He is a non smoker, doesn't have any dental problems and has never had a cavity. No other symptoms. The taste does make his stomach upset when he eats or drinks.
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of salty taste in your mouth which seem sto be due to dehydration, post-nasal drip, Sjogren´s syndrome and acidic reflux.
Need not to worry. I would suggest you to consult general practitioner/ oral physician once for proper diagnosis. Doctor may order certain tests like complete blood profile , sialogram and may prescribe drugs like pilocarpine to increase saliva production. Take plenty of fluids in diet. Avoid intake of sharp food substances and chew on sugar free candies.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
