Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
For two wks I ve had on again off again saltiness in my mouth. Around the time this began, I was having an allergy flare up. Sometimes I have mucous that s a bit thicker. The rest of the time it isn t. Its very clear. My allergies have calmed but I still have bouts of saltiness.
Following allergic reaction, taste sensation may change due to certain chemical substances released during the process.
Gradually, taste sensation would come back to normal. However, in the meantime, you can overcome change in taste sensation by doing the following:
1. Do salt water gargling with warm water thrice daily.
2. Gargle with mouth wash solution with Chlorhexidine.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Ashakiran S, General & Family Physician
