What Causes Scaly Skin And Swelling Around The Lips?

Hi there! So it started with a little flaky skin on bottom of lip and got progressively worse it has now been over 3 weeks and my lip is raw swollen and cracked in corners. It has gone from flakey to red to cracked to oozing to now swollen and raw. It hurts and it stings. Was prescribed hydrocortisone and fucidin cream. What is your opinion of this treatment on my lips

Hello,
As I had gone through your question I can understand your concern and conclude that anything of following reason.
1.post herpes bacterial or fungal infection.

2. Can also be something dangerous as you said it is not healing it can be basal cell carcinoma too. But chances are less because of scaly presentation also the malignant lesions are painless too.

You need to visit a dentist or general physician for further evaluation. It may be little bit difficult to adjust with the opinion but it needs to be evaluated properly.
