What Causes Scarring On The Brain In A Patient With Stroke?

Hello and thank you for taking my question. I recently saw a neurologists and he pointed out scarring on the brain shown in the MRI. He said the scars were from small strokes. I am leaving for Europe so he said to wait until I return to start the meds he has prescribed. Am I in danger of having a larger stroke?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello.
Thank you for contacting HCM.

I have gone through your question and I understand your concern. Stroke can lead to formation of scars in the brain seen on MRI however this doesn't predict future occurrence of stroke.
I would suggest you follow your consulting neurologist's line of treatment as it will be in accordance to your medical history and physical examination.

I hope this answers your question. Please feel free to contact HCM again if you have any concerns.
Wishing you good health.
