What Causes Scars On The Chest While Treating Pulmonary Tuberculosis?
I have a history of ptb during year 2000 i was treated for 6mos. At 2006 i had my medical revealed normal chest. After wards the scars appeared. Then it recurred during 2014. I was categorized type 2 ptb. I was treated and had oral meds for 8 mos together with streptomycin 56 vials if im not mistaken. Now chest xray revealed i have ptb but dont have symptoms. I am confident that i dont have ptb. Iam planning to have my re-xray. How can i hide the scar? Any advise?
Hi. As per your case history you are having cutaneous tuberculosis. My treatment advice is - 1. Don't squeeze the lesions as it may worsen the condition. 2. Apply a mild antibiotic cream like fusiderm cream twice daily on it. 3. Take a NSAID like ibuprofen for pain for 7-10 days. 4. Other treatment options are oral antitubercular drugs like rifampicin, isoniazid and ethambutol given after skin biopsy by a dermatologist.
Thanks. Dr. Harshit bhachech. MBBS, DDVL.
