What Causes Searing Pain On The Right Thigh?

I have a searing pain down the side of my right thigh. Also, When I stand for a long period of time, my leg goes numb but this nerve pain on the side of my right thigh feels like someone inserted a hot poker inside, down the side of my leg. If I lay on my right side it gets worse so I try not to turn on my right side as I sleep. It is getting concerning.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The pain you are explaining with the numbness it is associated points towards a possible nerve pain due to nerve pinch. Nerve pinch can happen at the level of the spine in the back due to the disc prolapse.

To help with pain you will need to get paracetamol and Ibuprofen and if this is not enough medications for nerve pain like Carbamazepine can be added and also you will need some physiotherapy to help release nerve pinch.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
