General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear Greetings
Regarding your experience mother developing a fluid in the lung following a treatment for Acute Pancreatitis I will suggest strongly that this is as a result of extravasation of fluid from the inflammatory pancreas into the lung via a costodiaphramatic opening (little open)

If the fluid is large enough preventing her from breathing let them put a chest tube drain however if the fluid is Small then let them give some broad spectrum antibiotics such as injection ceftriaxone or rocephin and continue as outpatient on tablet antibiotics

I hope this helps Regards
