General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello! Your symptoms sure are unusual, though there might be a rational explanation for it. certain pungent substances produce a more severe-than-normal reaction in some people. If your symptoms are only related to onions, then we can try avoiding exposure to the onion fumes which arise when we cut onions by - either wearing protective eyegear or even lenses. If the symptoms are controlled with the above then we need not go for other tests. If not, then we may have to undergo allergy testing and eye examination by an ophthalmologist. Hope this helps.
