Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Seizure, fatigue And Numbness On The Face?
A very close friend had a pretty bad seizure 30 minutes ago. We have her resting now but she is complaining of numbness on right side of face, feeling overly fatigued and weak. Also, complaining of her body feeling very hot. Is this typical after seizing and does this warrant emergency care and what are the chances of this reoccurring in the hours to come me.
I can understand your concern. Surely, your friend needs emergency care. If this is her first seizure episode, then she needs to get investigated for presence of brain tumor or any other disorder affecting her brain by CT Scan and MRI.
It is possible that some lesion is pressing on the nerve that supplies the sensations to the face and because of the pressure from the lesion, there is numbness in the area supplied by the nerve.
Thus, please take your friend to the emergency care and she needs to start on antiepileptic medication to prevent further seizures. We can never say when the next seizure may come without medication. It can be in the next hour or never again in life. So she needs to be seen by the expert.
I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HCM. I wish your friend feels better soon.
Best, Dr. Viraj Shah
