What Causes Sensing Unusual Smells While Having Ulcerative Colitis?

Yes, Doctor Rynne, For the past 2-3 weeks I have noticed a sweet smell no matter where I go. It is pretty noticeable and smells like a walnut or almond. Am I losing my sense of smell here or what is the deal? I do have ulcerative colitis and have been taking maintenance drugs for that but have been taking them for a long time. I recently went to the dermatologist to have some kerotosis and a couple of moles removed and am still healing up from that. I believe I m in pretty good health other than a bad knee. Any ideas of what might be causing this smell?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I think you can tell me the kind of drugs you are taking because they may give you this side effects. Also you may need to visit an ENT doctor to check the nasal mucosal lining.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka, General & Family Physician
