What Causes Sensitive Skin When Diagnosed With Lupus?
My sister c/o turning red and shaking all over, rubbing her arms and says she cannot stand for anything to touch her skin. She has a diagnosis of Lupus and is on multiple medications and reports that her drs do not know why this happens. At home she says she takes off all her clothing until the feeling passes. I ve seen her smack her arms when this happens, stating it helps temporarily. Any suggestions? She has an apt with a neurologist pending but can t be seen until December!!
Hi welcome to Health care Magic. In lupus, the body's overactive immune system form antibodies that attack and damage the skin causing sensitivity to touch or exposure to sunlight. This situation can be controlled by taking certain precautions:- 1. Avoid exposure to sunlight. 2. Wear only cotton clothes. 3. Moisturising skin daily will help her deal with the sensitivity of touch. 4. Apply broad spextrum UVA- UVB protective sun screen every day of the year. Write to me incase of any other queries. Take care. Regards, Dr. Anuja
