What Causes Sensitive Toes, Cramping Calf And Aching Feet?

Hello Dr. Rynne, My pinky fingers right down my palms are numb with pins & needles, and my palms are reddish. My small toes also get the same sensation, and I get an aching type of pain at the top of my feet where it joins the ankle. Lately I have been getting calf cramps as well. Could you please tell me what this may be, and should I be concerned? Thank you, Kelly Simmons age 50

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As per my clinical experience, sensitive toes with cramps in calf and aching feet do indicate possible neuropathy underlying. There are two types of neuropathy, of which the small fiber neuropathy cause pain with increased sensitivity issues over distal peripheries areas of the limbs. Among many causes, most common cause is diabetes. Kindly consult your primary care physician for further guidelines in this regard.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
