What Causes Sensitivity To Cold Food After Filling A Cavity?
Hello! I got a cavity filled 5 days ago and tonight while drinking ice cold soda after dinner it hurt, a lot. I brushed my teeth and didn t feel anything and tried flossing and I thought the floss would get stuck. I had to tug a little harder than normal to get it unstuck. It hurt to floss. I feel panicky and I k is I also clench my teeth. What could cause this? I don t feel any holes where I had my cavity filled. Would I feel that?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Cold sensitivity is commonly seen for a few days after tooth filling which subsides gradually. But in case if it is not just sensitivity and you are experiencing pain then you should get an x-ray done to check whether the filling is appropriately done or is their nerve exposure.
If the filling looks fine and there is no nerve exposure then you can wait for a few more days. If does not improve then you can get the filling redone along with a cavity base. But if the nerve is exposed then root canal treatment can be done.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Honey Arora
