Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Severe Abdominal Cramps During 29 Weeks Of Pregnancy?
I am currently 29 weeks pregnant and a few hours ago had this horrible severe abdominal pain/cramps come out of nowhere. I tried laying it helped a little bit but any movement I make especially standing up is horrible pain I can barely walk I don t know what to do or what this means this is my first pregnancy
Intermittent sharp cramps are common physiologic finding experienced by many of the primi patients in their third trimester of pregnancy. These are Brackstone Hick contractions and absolutely normal, vanish within period of minutes. If persistent over a long period with or without leaking per vagina (gush of fluid through amniotic membrane rupture) then it would be a matter of concern to visit to OBGYN or ER, otherwise not.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
