What Causes Severe Abdominal Cramps, Nausea And Back Pain After Eating?
Hi, I have experienced over the last two days after two main, (largish), meals severe abdominal pain and stomach cramping, as well as achy back, and nausea but without vomit, and hot sweats, soon if not immediately after eating / finishing my food. Why might this be? in the days before yesterday i didnt eat very much due to being very busy, but usually eat regularly and healthily and am in good shape and regularly exercise (20 years old female). Do i need to visit a doctor?
In your case because pain was after having large meals and this happened only recently please try to have 4-5 small meals a day and if the pain in the stomach area comes back then we can consider the gallbladder as the cause of it as it generally is the most likely cause of the pain after food. Sometimes the stomach can also be a cause as well.
- So please take smaller meals - try to take something for the stomach like ranitidine or omeprazole - avoid alcohol, smoking, caffeinated drinks - avoid spicy food or junk food (eat fruit and vegetables, cooked at home) - if the symptoms persist you will need to go to the doctor and have an ultrasound examination to visualize the gallbladder.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General & Family Physician
