Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had an abdominal cramp; that was rolling across the left side of my abdomen and into my left side. It would ease for half a minute then return like I had been kicked by a horse. It was very painful and lasted for 30 minutes. Most cramps ease within 5 minutes. Why did this one last so long?
Cramps can range in duration depending on how long the spasm in the organ (usually bowels or urinary in that location) lasts. From your description, it appears to have just started today, and seems to be quite a severe pain that is intermittent. More information would be useful to narrow down the areas that are involved:
1. Do you have any other bowel symptoms e.g. bloating, diarrhoea, constipation, passing more gas, nausea? 2. Any urinary symptoms e.g. dark coloured urine, burning when peeing, needing to urinate more or waking at night to urinate? 3. Do you frequently have such cramps?
Let me know, then I can follow up with more information.
Regards, Dr. Teh
