What Causes Severe Abdominal Pain After Taking High Dose Of Vitamin Supplements?
I took a ridiculous amount of vitamins last night and today I was having intense abdominal pain like cramps and I couldn t pass anything.. Then late this afternoon I finally went to the bathroom and it felt like I had diahrrea but when I looked it the toilet all I saw was bright red blood.. Could it be from the vitamin overdose? Or something more serious?
Some vitamins are proven to be toxic if taken in excess amount and symptoms of overdose are nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps, bloody stool, diarrhea, dizziness, headache, weakness, fatigue, fever and many more. Again fat soluble vitamins like A, D, E, K etc produce more serious side effects than the water soluble vitamins as fat soluble vitamins can accumulate in the body. Treatment for overdose of vitamins are supportive. For nausea and vomiting, antiemetics can be taken. For management of diarrhea, oral rehydration salts and antidiarrheal medications can be taken. In case of any serious complication, hospital management may be needed.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
