What Causes Severe Abdominal Pain After Using Misoprostol Vaginal Suppository?
I had a DandC a few weeks back and had spotting all along up until about 3 days ago, I recently went to get an ultrasound to make sure it all went well but I was told my uterus had unusual swelling which my Gynecologist told me was normal and he gave me Misoprostol to help with it because he said I had liquids in my uterus and he said t would help my uterus get back to normal shape. I took the pills vaginally 12 hours ago but I’ve had intense cramping all through the day and still do. Is this alarming or normal? It’s been over 12 hours
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
We will try to help you in best way possible. First of all it's sad to know what you had been going through lately. Based on the history you have shared, it is the mechanism by which Misoprostol basically acts by inducing contractions in the uterus, as it acts on smooth muscles to induce contractions, and helps to expel the contents outward. If cramps are intolerable stop I and consult the prescribing gynecologist for local examination.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
