Abdominal pain can be quite non-specific, however, when you combine it with blood in your stool then it needs to be investigated. Is there anybody in your family with inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn's or ulcerative colitis) or with bowel cancer at a young age (say less than 50 years old)? If your cultures have been unremarkable then I would suggest you certainly need some blood tests and a full colonoscopy, if not a flexible sigmoidoscopy. You should discuss this option with your gastroenterologist.
