What Causes Severe Abdominal Pain Along With Diarrhea Upon Intake Of Food?

My daughter is 24 years old. She put on about 40 pounds in college, and decided to get healthy again. She started eating healthy about 8 months ago. She stopped eating red meat, and started eating salads and smaller portions during lunch and dinner. She started working out about 4 months ago with a personal trainer, 2 - 3 times as week. She started drinking Diet Coke about 8 months ago.....She does drink wine and martinis on the weekend and a night or two during the week. She is having shooting pains in her abdomen after she eats, almost everytime she eats. She has had diarrhea very often. She has gone to the doctor and they have done bloodwork on her to test all her organs? Dr. thought for sure it was her gall bladder, but it wasn t. ....Tooks viles of blood to test her organs ....also for gluten intolerance, anemia.....all negative....had a lower GI sonogram...nothing....next step....possibly to see a gastrointestinal doctor? Any ideas?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of severe abdominal pain along with diarrhea upon intake of food . Well the symptoms you mention in query can occur due to many reasons like food poisoning , food allergy , infection of digestive system , gas , acid reflux , stomach flu or colic . You should take oral rehydration solution as well. I would suggest you to sips of water or other clear fluids on a very frequent basis. You should avoid solid foods for a few hours try small amounts of mild foods such as rice, applesauce and do not take foods or drinks caffeine , carbonated beverages , citrus and dairy products. If condition doesn't get better then consult gastroenterologist for proper examination and get complete examination done. Doctor may prescribe antiemetic drug , antibiotics ,anaspas and antacid . For now take ibuprofen or acetaminophen for pain.
