What Causes Severe Abdominal Pain And Diarrhea In A 14 Year Old Girl?

My 14 yr old daughter has been complaining of abdominal pain. She is fine one minute and then crying with pain the next. She isn't running a fever and it doesn't hurt when I push on it. The pain is her only symptom. It's been hurting her for 3 days. She said she has had diarrhea. Should I be alarmed?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query your daughter is having symptoms of severe abdominal pain and diarrhea which seems to be due to viral infection of body leading to acute gastroenteritis and electrolyte imbalance in body. Need not to worry. Give her banana on daily basis and light food. Avoid giving any sharp and spicy food. Drink plenty of fluids to rehydrate her. You should give Ibuprofen to your daughter along with proton pump inhibitors as well. Visit general physician once and get it examined. You should take antiemetic like domperidone and ranitidine for gastritis. You should go for blood tests as well and start treatment after proper examination. You should start treatment with combination of fluoroquinolones and ornidazole.
