What Causes Severe Abdominal Pain, Nausea, Fever And Low WBC Levels In Blood?

Very painful right midline stomach. Nausea, feeling fever (none shown on thermometer). CBC shows no increase of wbc. Urine test came back clear. Numerous polyps removed from colon 3 years ago. No cancer found at that time. Gallbladder removed 10 years ago. Took 3 days of fluconazole. Should I go back to Dr or just wait it out. Symptoms started 8 days ago.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The painful right midline stomach is indicating for possible colitis attack. As you have been your gallbladder removed, then, it might explain the symptoms.

Most probably you have not respected the restrictions in diet, and this has caused lots of gas in your colon with the pain at the end.

Fluconazole is used to treat candida infection of guts, which makes me think you've been diagnosed with a yeast infection.

Take probiotics to stabilize intestinal flora. Avoid foods that would aggravate the pain.

Increase fluids intake. Do not rush when you eat.
Eat often and in small portions.

If still no improvement after these steps, should get back to your Dr.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
