What Causes Severe Abdominal Pain Radiating To Back And Shoulder?

Hi, I have had digestive issues my whole life and thought I must have a new food intolerance as most nights I am in huge pain, bloated and crying after eating. Now it is accompanied by sharp upper abdominal pain in my right side, hurts to breathe in and goes through to my back and up through my shoulder. It feels like something under my ribs is grumbling and sore. I am 19 weeks pregnant and had a baby 6 months ago, I am 35 years old, not overweight and it is way worse if I eat anything with butter or cheese.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

This sounds like textbook gallstone disease. I would recommend tylenol or aspirin while you are pregnant. If that is not enough, a cholecystectomy during your second trimester could be an option. Before all this, get an ultrasound.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Anders Mark Christensen
