I am currently now getting back aches and my last period was 3 days of spotty little nothing that had an orange tinge to it and now I have an infection. I am lost completely and need answers. General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Noted your history of mirena for one year but developed severe pain in abdomen for 2 weeks, scanty periods, taking IBuprofen, Tylenol and Midol without relief of pain in abdomen, wants to go for a trip with son.
Also have back ache and infection in vagina.
Your history is most probably suggestive of PID that is pelvic inflammatory disease in which case there is an infection in the pelvic region, UTI may accompany.
This can be easily diagnosed with the following:
Examination by a Gynecologist.
Ultrasonography of abdomen.
Tests of blood, stool and urine.
All these will lead to a proper diagnosis and thus allow a specific treatment.
Also important is proper hydration and electrolyte balance be maintained with electrolyte solutions.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
