What Causes Severe Abdominal Pain With Diarrhea?

I have some questions about extreme abdominal pain, along with watery, foamy diarrhea... Had an ultra sound and HIDA scan on my gallbladder. All looked normal. Blood work has been normal so far as well. The diarrhea and abdominal pain have been going on for 6 weeks now. Last night the pain hit so bad it caused me to vomit. Felt as if there was a huge knot in my lower left side of my stomach. The pain is radiating up my chest and spine too. I just tried to eat a few crackers about an hour ago and the pain now is almost unbearable. Should I just head to the ER?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of severe abdominal pain with diarrhea. Well the symptoms you mention in query can occur due to many reasons like food poisoning , food allergy , infection of digestive system , gas , acid reflux , stomach flu or colic . Need not to worry. You should take oral rehydration solution as well. I would suggest you to sips of water or other clear fluids on a very frequent basis. You should avoid solid foods for a few hours try small amounts of mild foods such as rice, applesauce and do not take foods or drinks caffeine , carbonated beverages , citrus and dairy products. If condition doesn't get better then consult gastroenterologist for proper examination and get complete examination done. Doctor may prescribe antiemetic drug , antibiotics ,analgesic and antacid .
