Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 16 yr old son has severe acne on chest , back and face ! It s so bad that when he showers and drys off the towel is covered in blood , he says it s so painful playing football when he gets hit !! I m looking for the best treatment for him that works fast ! I feel so sorry for him !!! Please help !!
Your son appears to be suffering from a severe acne. It is quite common in this age and can be managed effectively if treated properly. If i were your son's treating physician I would recommend 1. Clindamycin phosphate gel to be applied twice daily. 2. daily use of sun screens. 3. use of medicated soaps designed especially for acne. 4. vitamin C creams to reduce the scarring.
If the acne is severe your son may have to take a course of antibiotics and vitamin A creams and capsules....for that i would recommend consulting your local dermatologist as the dose of these medicines need to be strictly monitored.
I hope this answers your question. Please feel free to contact HCM again if you have any concerns. Wishing you good health.
