Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 89 year old mom fell on her bottom outside. In the night she started having severe pain from her ankle up the inside of her leg to her groin. Her right leg hurts worse. She can hardly walk. Would that be a nerve giving her pain or a broken bone?
If pain is sever enough to prevent walking/getting up, there is chance of a bone fracture. Bones will be somewhat fragile in this age and yields to trivial falls even. Nerve injury is less likely. Kindly take her to ER for evaluation. You may be asked for an X-ray. Meanwhile, give her Acetaminophen to control pain
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam T. K., Pediatrician
