Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Severe Anxiety After Taking Xanax And Doxylamine Succinate?
Took Xanax 3 1/2 hrs ago, doxylamine succinate 2 hours ago , alcohol (4pts) 6-8 hrs ago and experiencing severe anxiety, hyped up, - is this a reaction of medications or anxiety problem coming back? Can he take ambien or lorazapan to try to sleep tonight?
The use of alcohol can cause anxiety so I would expect the symptoms he has to be due to this. I would recommend him to not use xanax often or lorazepam or ambien often either. These are benzodiazepnes and cause dependence and tolerance which means he will get dependent to them and their effect fades with time causing him to use higher doses. There are safer drugs for anxiety and that can be used daily for a long time and help with symptoms. Please have him see his doctor and take the proper treatment for anxiety.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General & Family Physician
