Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Why do I feel feelings of fight or flight at night when I go to sleep? I may fall asleep some nights, but then waken with that horrible feeling and need to get out of bed! I take 5 mg of xanax before bed, but when I get up again, I sometimes take another 5 mg of xanax. Is this anxiety or panic attacks?
You are having anxiety. Instead of taking the xanax tablets, sit in meditation and find out the cause of your anxiety. Once you find out the root cause of your stress, then you will be able to take constructive action and able to have good sleep without medication. Be mindful at all times. Avoid multitasking. Take adequate rest. Physical exercise is important. Thus slowly you can wean yourself of any medication and get a whole night of peaceful, uninterrupted sleep.
