What Causes Severe Back Pain After Mirena IUD Removal?
Hi there, I had the mirena IUD removed 6 days ago. I woke up this morning with severe (8 out of 10 pain scale)back pain. I have take paracetamol and ibuprofen.....which has barely taken any pain away. Why would my back be so painful after IUD removal, and when can I expect it to disappear? Thank you.

Hi,
As it is a progestin releasing IUD, pain can last till your normal progesterone production is attained. Usually severe discomforts will go within 1 week time. If there is severe pain then you should consult your gynecologist to rule out problems like pelvic inflammatory process or perforation.
