What Causes Severe Back Pain Along With Headache?

I am a 50 year old female, healthy and in good shape. I have been experiencing back pain along the mid to low spine. Aches when I stretch, arch or forward fold, or sit for a long time (like driving). I suffered a severe headache 3 days ago that was more in my neck and moved into my jaw.... concerned this may be from the soar spine issues.... thoughts on treatment?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Backache in the area specified by you commonly occurs due to herniated disc, muscle strain, injury to the muscles & ligaments, osteoarthritis, pinched nerves, etc.

Get physically examined by a GP, get CBC, Urinalysis, X-ray, if required CT & MRI done to detect the factor (pathology) causing you discomfort.

Consider TMJ for jaw & neck pain causing headache. Get examined. Stay away from stress, anxiety & addictions if any.

In the meantime you can take analgesics or NSAIDs, one sos when required to get relieve from pain.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
