What Causes Severe Back Pain And Tingling In The Feet?

Hi, I have sever back pain since last 8 years. my entire back pains, additionally sticking and tingling is their on feet and palms and during severity, itching will be their on legs, hands, belly, etc. I have taken Vitamin B12 and D3 suppliments to level them from deficiency. Earlier I did Spine and Brain MRIs and back X-ray which revealed nothing. Last year I did back x-ray in Podar Hospital, Worli which clearly indicates little title in upper end of spine. I consulted with Qi-spine physiotherapists, they treated me with exercises from Nov2015 to May 2016. I had to do around 16 exercises daily.. The regulary exercise helped me reduce the pain by 75%. Later, I visited orthopedic doc in Borivali. He suggested me only three exercises, 1. Bridge Pose (20 times twice daily) 2. Knees to Chest (20 times twice daily) 3. Cobra pose (Bhujangasan) (20 times twice daily) But this has caused the increase in pain. To reduce my pain I have to do this additional exercise every two hourly, Sit straight in chair, put a ball between mid back and chair back and by keeping palms on neck, bend backward. repeat 10 times. For initial 3 to 4 repeats, I clearly hear cut-cut sound in my back, like spine is getting aligned, after which my pain gets reduced. Can you please help me cure my back pain?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

You have a history of chronic back pain. You should stop all those exercises that are causing the pain & discomfort. Switch to those exercises that helped to get rid of your discomforts.

You can contact physiotherapists. Your symptoms are indicative of either Herniated disc or Piriformis Syndrome. Tingling is indicative of developing peripheral neuropathy or developing Sciatica.

You are suggested to get physically examined by Orthopedics & Neurologist. Get assessed, get all investigations (Blood, Nerve Conduction tests, Nerve biopsy & Imaging tests) done. Get treated at the earliest.

Take food rich in vitamin B6, B12, Folic acid, minerals, vitamin D. You can take supplements.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Nupur K, General & Family Physician
