Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
10 Years ago I was treated at Stanford with stage 2 cervical cancer and had a radical hysterectomy but at that time I chose to keep my ovaries. I had allot of issues because of that decision. I am now having allot of back pain , am having ultrasounds every 3 months for complex cysts on my ovaries that are getting larger and now are lacelike in appearance. I live in an area where medical care is poor and I have had to fight for any test I have ever had. In fact I was told I didn t have cancer and after fighting for months I did. I am a little scared that maybe this could be allot worse and I am trying to receive what I need. What can I do? and should I fight harder to be referred somewhere. Other symptoms abdominal swelling by end of day, leg swelling and fatigue

What Causes Severe Backache After A Hysterectomy?
Hi, Yes, you should definitely make efforts to get a gynecologist referral. You might need bilateral oophorectomy (removal of both ovaries) because complex enlarged cysts of ovaries can cause all those symptoms. Also, get done kidney function test, CBC (complete blood count) and serum protein levels to rule out other causes for pedal edema and fatigue. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Regards, Dr. Kaushal Bhavsar, Pulmonologist
