Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My granddaughter is 25 yo. She has been throwing up sporadically for 5 days. The first day all night long, everyday after just once or twice late at night or pre dawn. A low grade fever. Went to ER CAT scan - nothing. Very dehydrated iv fluids 3 bags. Sent her home said she would be fine. Still feels bad, ache in the lower back area and occasionally throwing up. What could this be? Our health facilities here don t really treat people without insurance and she has none.
Vomiting, backache with normal CT brain are commonly seen in Meningitis (brain infection). Dehydration is also favouring meningitis more.
So better to take her to a neurologist and get done a clinical examination and lumbar puncture for CSF (cerebrospinal fluid) examination. She may need antibiotics, Intravenous fluids and other supportive treatment.
Don't worry, she will be alright with all these.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
