What Causes Severe Backache?
Dang Doc, I have had a lingering middle back pain where it feels like my whole back muscles lock up. I am way over weight for my height, I m 5 10 tall and weigh 290lbs. However when i was in the best shape of my life in high school i was 220lbs. I just want some kind of diagnosis and relief. I can t even walk on a flat surface for more then 10 minutes without the lock up happening.

Your back pain could be from some pathology in lumbar vertebra like spondylosis or arthritis. I suggest you investigate with digital X-ray of lumbar spine to do further work up. According to report further work up can be planned.
Until than you can be prescribed muscle relaxant like Chlorzoxazone and Ibuprofen like nonsteroid anti-inflammatory drug. Physiotherapy also beneficial in such case.
