What Causes Severe Body Tremors And Cold Sensation While On Metformin?

My father is 90 and has diabetes...controlled with Metformin 2x a day and diet. His reading about 1 hour ago was 149...usually is around 90-95. Started having uncontrollable shaking and being very cold..sitting under 4 blankets and it is 85 degrees outside today. Unsteady in his walking and trouble getting up from a seated position. Any ideas for us?
