What Causes Severe Burning And Stinging Sensation In The Bladder Area?

Hi I am desperately seeking help. I am 26years old and I have been having severe burning and stinging in my bladder and/or urethra for the past 5months. I was initially treated for a bladder infection with antibiotics followed by 3 additional treatments of antibiotics. I then started going to trauma each time the pain got severe. Blood tests and urine tests are clear. Urine growth test also has no growth. Not pregnant and have never been. I have seen a Urologist and have been sent for and ultrasound (kidneys, bladder, ovaries) which was clear. I have a history of endometriosis and had a laparoscopy done in 2013 and have not seen a gynae since. I am meant to make an appointment for a cytoscope but sense it may be more gynaecological. What could it be? What should my next step be? Please help I am at my wits end. I have gone through 2boxes of anti inflammatorys that work only for a few hours.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Sorry to hear about what you have been going through for the last few months. It's least likely to be an infection of its there for 5 months and all tests are normal.

I think the way forward is to see your gynecologist who would do a local examination to check for any ulcer, or rashes etc. If that's normal, then you are very right to go for cystoscopy.

So we should follow the urologist if the local examination was normal.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mahboob Ur Rahman, General & Family Physician
