What Causes Severe Burning Sensation After Applying Nystatin Cream?

I have a yeast infection and when I apply my nystatin cream I have intense burning when I apply it for 3-5minutes after. So much so it brings tears to my eyes. Is that how it is supposed to feel? I also have what looks like a sore but it s not red or infected on my clit. Just looks like missing first layer of skin in one spot. Could that be related?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Little skin irritation is common with topical application of creams. However, this much severe irritation probably indicates that your skin may be allergic to the said drug. So you should avoid using it any more before consultation with your doctor.

Hope I have answered your query.
