What Causes Severe Burning Sensation In The Elbow Region?
I am experiencing a burning sensation on the elbow side of my left arm. Just yesterday I noticed that same area had loss normal sensation to touch, I could only feel pressure. it was as if that one area of my arm was asleep...now it burns. What is the deal
Burning sensation is normally related to the nerves in the area.
Abnormal function of the nerves is called neuropathy and can cause these types of sensations. Some persons may have sticking pain or numbness or tingling etc
It can be temporary or permanent.
Possible causes include: (1) trauma to the nerves along its path. Nerves to the arm would emerge from the neck, travel through the shoulder area to the arm (2)diabetes (3)liver or kidney disease (4)side effect of medication (5)low vitamin b12 or folate (6)thyroid disease (7)abnormal levels of vitamin b6 (8)autoimmune disease such RA or lupus (9)infection such as shingles
If it continues or worsens then you would need to see your doctor for an assessment to determine the cause
I hope this helps
