Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello - i have a burning tongue. overall i feel ok, but my tongue has a slight burning feeling. my tongue is all of a sudden very sensitive to food, and it feels like i burnt my tongue real bad, but i haven t....any ideas on how to naturally treat? thanks
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your query burning sensation over the tongue along with feeling of burnt or scalded and sensitivity to food seems to be due to a condition known as Apthous stomatitis leading gradually to Burning mouth syndrome and can be due to causes like Vitamin B12 and Iron deficiency, oral infections like thrush, dry mouth, side effects of medicines, acid reflux, allergic reaction, stress etc.. I would suggest you to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation can help in diagnosis and treatment of underlying cause can help in relieving the symptoms.. As of now you can gargle with a numbing mouthwash containing Lignocaine.. You can take a multivitamin tablet for a month.. Suck ice pops and do cool water rinses.. Avoid spicy and chilled foods..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards.. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
