Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Severe Burning Sensation Under The Rib Cage After Penicillin VK Withdrawal?
I was on penicillin VK for 2 days earlier this week and ibuprofen for a root canal. I got nauseated so I stopped taking the penicillin per my doctor. I have horrible discomfort right under the bottom of my rib cage and a burning sensation up my throat. What can I take?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain it seems that the burning sensation and discomfort under ribcage and up the throat is due to hyperacidity causing acid reflux which is a common side effect of antibiotics.. I would suggest you to take Proton pump inhibitor like Pantoprazole or Omeprazole, take antacid like Milk of Magnesia before meals, take small portion of food every 2 hours, avoid spicy and acidic foods, drink plenty of water, take more of Probiotics like Yoghurt in diet, sleep with head slightly raised as compared to feet..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
