What Causes Severe Buttock Pain After An Injury?

Hello, I am a 33 year old female. I recently fell night before last. I was extremely sleepy from work and while in the kitchen I kept dozing off while standing and I fell straight back and landed on my left butt buttock. I don t see any visible bruise but it s hurting me and especially when I sit down. Could anything be possibly broken in that area?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The intense pain at the buttock area is very common after such trauma. Most of the time there is nothing broken, there are few cases that coccyx, the bone in that area may get broken. Even if the bone is broken there, there is no specific treatment but just pain killers and you may choose to sit in a chair after putting a circle pillow with a hollow middle.
The pain should get better in the next few days and weeks.

I hope I have answered your query and have been helpful to you.

I remain at your disposal in case further medical assistance is needed.

Regards,
