What Causes Severe Cold, Cough And Weird Feeling After Urination?

Hi for the last 3 weeks i have been having this weird feeling when im just finishing peeing, like the pain isnt there the whole time just right at the end for a few seconds, at first it wasnt really painfull but more of a strong relieving feeling, like you get when you have had a bit to drink and you need to pee alot and when you finally do you get a weird relief feeling. Thats what it is like everytime. At first it wasnt to bad but in a few days it got worse to where my urine was a pinkish colour (im guessing from a bit of blood) but that only lasted 2 days, i then had a bad cold with a bad cough and i cough so hard that it hirt my back, and my back continued to hurt for a few days, but then with the symptoms in my urethra i thought the pain could have been kidney pain, but the day after i thought of this the pain was gone. But still a week after that i am still having pain at the end of peeing and it has slightly gotten worse in the last couple days where it will continue to hurt for a few minutes even once i have gotten off the toilet. I drink ALOT of water and that is pretty much the only thing i drink so im not really convinced it could be a uti. Although i have never had pain like this before, i am 20.

Hello dear,
Thank you for your question.

In my opinion you may have a urinary tract infection, most likely of your bladder. The pain at the end and after urination is suggestive for this kind of infection.

The next step should be performing a urine analysis. This test can also detect if there is actually blood in your urine. After that, your doctor may order a culture test to confirm the diagnosis and prescribe antibiotics accordingly. In the mean time it is a good idea to drink a lot of water. I also suggest to my patients to take cranberry juice, or cranberry extract capsules.

Your back pain after coughing is most likely of muscular origin. Since your symptoms are more suggestive of a LOWER urinary tract infections, I think the pain in your back did not have anything to do with your kidney.

I hope this helped.
All the best,
Dr. Alma
