Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Severe Constipation And Back Pain After Taking Steroids?
I was treated for a sinus and throat infection with steroids and antibiotics and completed the regime. I have been constipated off and on the past say two weeks. Over the past few day I have lower back aches, nausea, bloating, some nausea and a lot of gurgling in my abdomen. I took some laxatives and drink warm water and the bowels are slowly. The sinius are still bothering me. i just drank a little cup of coffee.
Usually, steroids are not responsible for constipation, and if it's then constipation should be there during medical treatment.
As you told cup of coffee had been taken, it could be the reason. But to avoid constipation, you should take proper diet rich in fibres like fruits and vegetables (whole).
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nirav Nimavat,
