What Causes Severe Constipation In Person Undergoing Chemotherapy?
My mother has cancer and has been taking treatments for a while. She takes chemo (taxol not sure about spelling) 3 Fridays a month and 1 Friday off. This has been since last July. She has been having a lot of trouble with being constipated. She can not take laxative bc it makes her horribly sick. We have tried mirlax, didn t work. She has been trying my isagenix isaflush pills at night (Her Dr said they would be fine to try) but the past week she has not felt so well still constipated and when she does go it is very dark and now she just threw up and it was black . does she need to stop the isaflush could that be causing her to be sick ?
The constipation is in relation with hypo movements of the intestines from the chemotherapy agents. As various methods of oral medications have failed, the best way is to go for keeping Glycerine suppositories inside the anal canal for instant results. Later on if there is inability to pass stool or flatus with persistent vomiting, one may need an x-ray of the abdomen in standing position to rule out possible cause of intestine obstruction for the root cause.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
