What Causes Severe Constipation Post Rotator Cuff Surgery?

i had rotator cuff surgery thursday 1/21 i am taking oxycodone/acetaminphin for pain I have taken 300mg of colace yesterday and 200mg of Doc-Q-Lace today. Still no bowel movement. I have drank a lot of water can i use an over the counter laxative or supository for relief

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

It is possible that the oxycodone is contributing to your constipation, this is a known side effect of this medication and other medications in this family of drugs.

You can use an over the counter laxative for a few days for relief but you should also try to increase your fiber intake.
Use at least 5 servings of fruits and vegetables daily, this means with each main meal and snack.

In addition using whole grain foods is also important.
